We found Rowell House in 2010 and embarked on a full renovation to lovingly restore this 19th century house for modern day living. Designed by local architect Joseph Rowell (hence our name!) and built in 1875. We fell in love with its original period details and its open view over Torquay.
Our main business, Retrovation.co.uk sees us travelling all over the UK finding unique and unusual decorative English antique and period props. We love finding pieces which have a Devonian history. Making Rowell House a unique space with a wealth of period features and character.

Our Story
Steve grew up in Torbay attending school until he left to study at University. Our family roots are deeply planted in Devon. As a family we enjoy rock climbing and sailing. Our two teenage sons Alex and Gabriel have sailed at Babbacombe sailing club and completed their outdoor climbing certificates locally.
We live near St Albans, Hertfordshire and spend all our spare time in Devon visiting family. Enjoying country walks, water sports and swimming in the sea. We love exploring local towns of Totnes and Dartmouth, and the cities of Exeter and Plymouth.
